Job summary

St Mark's West Essex Catholic School is seeking a Head of Mathematics to teach across Key Stages 4-5 and lead the Maths area to high standards. The post is permanent, with a probationary period, and offers an opportunity to contribute to the department's development.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with strong classroom practice and developing leadership skills, responsible for strategic direction, monitoring pupil achievement, and line managing Maths teachers.

• Line manage Maths teachers.

Job Description:

To be accountable for thehighest standards of pupil achievement within the Maths area, monitoring andevaluation of pupil achievement and setting targets for improvement.

To lead, develop and enhance the teaching practice ofall teachers within the specified areas and practice of all evaluating thequality of teaching and support and securing and sustaining effectiveprovision for students.

To be accountable for thestrategic direction, leadership and management of the Maths area, thedevelopment and implementation of departmental policies, plans, targets and practiceswithin the context of the school 's aims and policies.
