Job summary

Hazelbrook Care Home, part of Willinbrook Healthcare and the Care Concern Group, is seeking a Head of Maintenance in Leicester. You will oversee upkeep, safety, and presentation in a specialist complex care setting, leading maintenance across buildings and grounds with contractors, while ensuring minimal disruption to residents.

This is a leadership role requiring organisation, proactive problem solving and a strong health and safety focus to maintain a safe, functional environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Experience managing maintenance operations or projects.
• Good knowledge of general building, electrical and repair work.
• Strong organisational and problem solving skills.
• Understanding of health and safety and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage workload, priorities and external contractors.
• A proactive and reliable approach.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for upkeep, safety and presentation of the home.
• Oversee maintenance activities across building and grounds, including planned and reactive work.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with H&S and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Home Manager and team, manage priorities and contractors, minimise disruption.

Job description

Hazelbrook Care Home is a modern, purpose built commissioning care home located in Leicester. The home offers specialist and complex care for up to 80 residents across four 20 bed bungalow style households. Designed to support calm, therapeutic living, the home provides high quality care for people living with advanced dementia, complex nursing needs and mental health conditions in a safe and supportive environment focused on dignity, wellbeing and person centred care.

Head of Maintenance Contract

• £15.00 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Head of Maintenance, you will take overall responsibility for the upkeep, safety and presentation of the home within a specialist complex care setting, supporting individuals with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. This is a key leadership role where your organisation, technical knowledge and proactive approach will directly impact safety, compliance and daily experience.

You will oversee all maintenance activities across the building and grounds, including planned maintenance, reactive repairs and improvement projects. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with health and safety and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you will manage maintenance priorities, coordinate contractors where required and be mindful of working within an occupied care environment, ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining a safe and fully functional setting at all times.
