Job Description:
A London Football Club is looking for an energetic and engaging Head of HR to play a critical role in ensuring that the club’s staff experience a first-class HR service. This standalone position will ensure a positive, collaborative, and fulfilling staff culture. The workforce includes playing and coaching staff, as well as commercial and operational roles responsible for matchdays and events.
Safeguarding is of utmost importance, and the HR Manager will oversee this area, supported by a part-time resource.
Your responsibilities
- Provide compliant, business-aligned advice to line managers on all HR Employee Relations issues to resolve matters promptly.
- Offer confidential advice on employment legislation and manage processes related to employment tribunals or claims.
- Be a member of the senior management team, influencing the club’s culture, strategy, and key projects.
- Manage, review, and update HR policies across the club (playing, non-playing, and volunteers).
- Participate in the club’s ED&I Working Group.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment.
- Maintain compliance with the London Living Wage.
- Support the Head of Finance with pension scheme management and salary sacrifice initiatives.
- Deliver induction processes for new staff.
- Coordinate with finance on the monthly payroll for main and casual staff.
- Ensure policies are compliant, adopted, and reviewed annually for Board approval.
- Manage the HR platform – Sense.
- Develop and maintain a performance management process aligned with objectives.
- Facilitate staff development and training.
- Oversee the club’s Safeguarding policies for vulnerable adults and children, via Safeguarding Manager.
- Report to the PLC board through the Safeguarding, HR, and Risk Committee.
Skills & experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role or organization of comparable size.
- Proven senior HR experience, ideally within sports organizations.
- Degree educated and CIPD level 5 qualified or higher.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Experience with disciplinary, grievance, and severance processes.
- IT literate with excellent communication skills.
- Strategic thinking, influencing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to implement ideas independently.
- Strong leadership, multi-tasking, and a positive attitude are essential.
Salary & benefits
The successful candidate will work at the stadium five days a week, with one remote workday possible after probation.
