Job summary

The University of Sheffield invites applications for a senior role leading the Global Opportunities team within Careers & Employability. You will drive the delivery of international student exchanges, manage major partnerships, and oversee budgets and grant funding applications.

You will work across faculties and with external partners to expand opportunities for students, including open days and guidance for outbound and inbound exchange participants.

Qualifications

• An honours degree (or equivalent experience).
• Detailed knowledge and demonstrable experience of global student exchanges in a university context.
• Proven skills in team leadership, motivation and management.
• Able to define and deliver strategic objectives and prioritise a complex workload.
• Experience developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience developing, embedding and reviewing processes that deliver efficiencies.
• Strong project and finance management skills with ability to deliver to budget and deadlines.
• Excellent cultural awareness, data analysis, report writing and presentation skills.
• Willingness and ability to undertake occasional overseas trips.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership of Global Opportunities operations including exchanges, grants and short-term programmes.
• Contribute to shaping the strategic direction of the Global Opportunities area.
• Lead the Global Opportunities team to ensure high performance and achievement of objectives.
• Oversee a large portfolio of study abroad partnerships and identify new opportunities.
• Lead the management, monitoring and evaluation of all exchange agreements.
• Manage large budgets and lead applications for external grant funding including Erasmus.
• Influence across faculties to promote global opportunities and coordinate with partnerships and marketing teams.
• Oversee marketing and communications to staff, students and external audiences including partner institutions.
• Provide advice on international educational opportunities to staff to optimise uptake.
• Support prospective students with information and guidance, including open days and occasional weekend work.
