About Us
We are a hyper-growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We’re now looking for a Head of Finance to help us on the next stage of our journey. Our founders, Harry and Ben, experienced the pain points of renting a house while at university and knew there had to be a better way.
We are operating in four UK cities, with plans to expand to 8 in Q3, and have launched in the US. In 2023, we were recognized by Tech Climbers as a rapidly scaling tech company. We are currently fundraising to fuel our growth further.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Finance to oversee our financial operations as we scale. This is a hands-on role combining technical expertise with strategic oversight, responsible for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and cash flow management to ensure solid financial foundations as Housr expands globally.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience leading finance in a growing SaaS, tech startup, or SME, with an understanding of scale-up needs.
- Chartered accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of US finance processes, tax laws, and compliance standards, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills, team collaboration, and openness to feedback.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in reporting, forecasting, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models supporting business decisions.
- Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements for internal and investor use.
- Lead annual budgeting and manage ongoing forecasts, providing performance insights.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and present recommendations.
- Monitor and forecast cash flow, optimize working capital.
- Oversee payroll and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain financial governance, ensure compliance with standards, and manage external audits.
- Oversee tax compliance and planning, including international tax and R&D credits.
- Manage EMI share options and pension schemes, ensuring compliance and clarity for employees.
This role may not be right for you if:
- You prefer managing a large team – this is a hands-on role.
- You favor well-defined processes and a steady pace.
- You are uncomfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
- You cannot commit to working 4 days a week in our Manchester office (near Spinningfields).
What We Offer
- Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
- Share options: Opportunity to benefit from Housr’s success via our scheme
- Holiday: 25 days + bank holidays
- Free gym membership
- Monthly team lunches and afternoon off
- Company socials (paintball, ping pong, etc.)
- Central Manchester office with on-site barista
- Hybrid work policy: 4 days in-office, 1 day remote
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Screening call with Talent Partner (30 mins)
- Stage 2: Video interview with COO or CEO (45 mins)
- Stage 3: In-person interview with presentation (60-75 mins)
- Offer: If suitable, an offer will be extended
