The National Army Museum is seeking a Head of Facilities to oversee operations and ensure the estate meets its mission. The role involves managing facilities functions, ensuring safety and sustainability, and requires a proactive, organized professional. This is a hands-on position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a world-class institution.
The National Army Museum’s mission is to tell the story of Our Army and the people who have served in it; to inspire, engage and educate, through our World Class Museum and Collections. Our galleries, innovative exhibitions, and public programmes allow visitors to explore what it’s like to be a soldier, understand why conflicts were fought—past and present—and discover the impact of the Army on society.
This is a unique opportunity for experienced professionals to join a passionate and committed team to develop and deliver the Museum’s Facilities Operations.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing both hard and soft facilities management functions across the Museum estate. Working closely with all departments, they will ensure the Museum’s mission, vision, and values are cohesively delivered while maintaining the estate’s suitability for purpose. The role includes delegated authority over health & safety, security, and sustainability aspects of operations.
This hands-on, varied role requires a highly organized, enthusiastic, and methodical facilities professional with a technical bias. Proactivity, a can-do attitude, approachability, and the ability to self-manage workload are essential. The post-holder must confidently handle planned tasks and ad hoc facilities challenges with composure and efficiency.
