Job summary

Campion School in Nottingham is seeking a Head of English to start Easter 2027. You will lead a large English department, maintain high standards, and drive excellence in teaching and learning.

The role requires outstanding classroom practice, strong leadership to coach staff within a performance-management framework, high expectations of pupils, and innovation in teaching approaches to engage students and raise achievement.

Qualifications

• Outstanding classroom practitioner.
• Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff within a performance management framework, including PD and underperformance management.
• High expectations of students in learning, achievement and behaviour.
• Enthusiasm for developing innovative and creative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation.
• Sound subject knowledge to challenge all students.

ULT Teachers’ Pay Range: £36,400-£53,040 (pay award pending) plus TLR1

Start date: Easter 2027

You have a close eye to detail and the ability to manage a large team whilst retaining the highest possible standards. You are incredibly tenacious with a high level of emotional intelligence and are fully committed to providing an excellent learning experience for students at our school.

Candidates should:

• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner
• Have the ability to lead, coach and motivate staff within a performance management framework, including professional development and effective management of underperformance
• Have high expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
• Have enthusiasm for developing innovative and creative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation
• Have a sound subject knowledge which you can utilise to challenge all students
• Have an ability to engage and motivate students
