Job summary

United Learning is seeking a Head of English from Easter 2027 to lead a large English department and drive exceptional learning. You will model outstanding classroom practice while coaching staff and maintaining the academy’s high standards of achievement and behaviour.

The role emphasises innovative pedagogy, student engagement, and strategic line-management within a supportive United Learning framework. You will contribute to ongoing CPD and career development.

ULT Teachers’ Pay Range: £36,400-£53,040 (pay award pending) plus TLR1

Start date: Easter 2027

We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a motivated, passionate and committed Head of English from Easter 2027. This is a great opportunity for an outstanding teacher of English who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You have a close eye to detail and the ability to manage a large team whilst retaining the highest possible standards. You are incredibly tenacious with a high level of emotional intelligence and are fully committed to providing an excellent learning experience for students at our school.

Candidates should:

• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner
• Have the ability to lead, coach and motivate staff within a performance management framework, including professional development and effective management of underperformance
• Have high expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
• Have enthusiasm for developing innovative and creative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation
• Have a sound subject knowledge which you can utilise to challenge all students
• Have an ability to engage and motivate students
