Job summary

KPI Education is partnering with a high‑performing West London secondary school to recruit a Lead Practitioner of English for a permanent, full‑time role.

You will lead the English department, develop resources and curriculum, mentor trainees and early career teachers, and drive improvements in attainment and engagement through evidence‑informed practice. This leadership role offers a competitive Inner London salary and NPQ opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in English or closely related subject.
• Experience teaching across Key Stages 3–5.
• Proven track record of excellent GCSE and A‑Level outcomes.
• Experience of departmental leadership or line management.
• Experience with IB teaching would be advantageous.

KPI Education is working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in West London to recruit an exceptional Lead Practitioner of English for a permanent position.

The Ideal Candidate

• Hold a degree in English or a closely related subject.
• Have experience teaching across Key Stages 3–5.
• Have a proven track record of excellent GCSE and A‑Level outcomes.
• Have experience of departmental leadership or line management.
• Are passionate about English literature, language and developing students' critical thinking.
• Can coach, mentor and support colleagues to improve their practice.
• Have high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Are enthusiastic about developing students' engagement with English beyond the classroom.

Experience teaching the IB Diploma Programme, a relevant teaching qualification and examiner experience would be advantageous. A willingness to develop expertise in IB teaching is expected.
