Job summary

Edinburgh Airport is seeking a Head of Engineering to provide strategic leadership for the engineering function, overseeing campus infrastructure, facilities maintenance, civil and electrical assets, and a 50‑strong team. The role drives safe, compliant operations across a £500 million capital investment plan over the next five years.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education in an engineering discipline or equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum five years’ senior leadership experience in a complex facilities/engineering environment.
• Strong civil engineering knowledge of runway/airfield infrastructure and asset management.
• High‑voltage knowledge and electrical safety/compliance expertise.
• Experience sponsoring and assuring capital asset replacement projects.
• Deep knowledge of health, safety, environmental and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Develop maintenance and asset management strategy aligned with growth plans.
• Provide strategic oversight of CMMS and asset data.
• Ensure safe, compliant, reliable and resilient performance of assets at lowest whole-life cost.
• Oversee civil engineering assets including runway, taxiways, aprons, roads and drainage.
• Lead the strategic management of the airport’s vehicle fleet.
• Sponsor and manage capital projects within the £500m plan.
• Oversee budgeting and planning for the engineering function and SOC with senior management.
• Maintain a resilient engineering supply chain and ensure health, safety and environmental performance.
• Act as engineering SME during disruption and crisis incidents.
