Job summary

Software Development & Engineering seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for embedded software in control and drive systems.

You will manage a team of 5-15 engineers, providing technical leadership across the full software lifecycle and coordinating with electronics, hardware and systems teams to deliver complex electromechanical products.

Qualifications

• Strong embedded software knowledge and firmware development.
• Experience leading software engineering teams.
• Experience working with embedded software in physical products.
• Understanding of hardware/software integration and lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of approximately 5-15 embedded software engineers.
• Take responsibility for the development and delivery of embedded software and HMI solutions across complex products.
• Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle from requirements and architecture through development, integration, verification and release.
• Define and continuously improve the engineering approach to hardware and software integration.
• Establish robust software engineering standards, processes and practices.
• Collaborate with electronics, hardware, systems, test, manufacturing and project engineering teams to ensure delivery.
• Support software used within control systems, drive technology and electromechanical equipment.
• Manage software resources across multiple projects, balancing priorities and timelines.
• Identify capability gaps and develop the team for current and future programmes.
• Coach and mentor engineers to foster technical excellence and collaboration.
• Contribute to technical reviews, risk assessments and engineering decisions.
• Ensure development activities meet quality, regulatory and safety requirements.
• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and external partners.
• Support resource planning, budgeting, supplier management and forecasting.
• Help shape future structure and capability of the software function.
