Responsibilities
The main duties of the role include:
- Assisting the Director of Digital and Technical Services with strategic planning of change programmes and projects to support strategic priorities.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining an annual planning cycle and project portfolio management framework to appraise, monitor, and review change projects throughout their lifecycle, supporting the maintenance of the Directorate’s Service Catalogue.
- Managing the Digital & Technical Services project portfolio, overseeing project identification, prioritisation, approval, and initiation, ensuring alignment with the Directorate's strategy and wider business.
- Overseeing the Directorate’s change function, working with change boards and project boards to ensure proper appraisal and approval of changes.
- Managing projects within the DTS programme, working with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely delivery within budget and quality standards.
- Maintaining and reporting on a balanced plan for the DTS project portfolio, including schedules, resourcing, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Managing the business partner function to facilitate strategic interfaces between DTS and other departments for technology strategy, solution discovery, and relationship management.
- Developing policies and processes for managing change and project delivery to ensure effective scoping, planning, and implementation.
- Providing guidance on digital project management, governance, and benefits realisation to support project delivery.
- Coordinating multi-skilled virtual teams and managing technical resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Collaborating with the DTS Directorate Leadership Team to manage budgets, seeking efficiencies and performance improvements.
- Playing a key role in incident management, deputising for the Director during major incidents or crises.
- Ensuring compliance with legislative and other requirements, including GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, and Equality and Diversity.
- Fulfilling line management responsibilities such as recruitment, performance management, professional development, and staff wellbeing.
- Motivating and supporting team members, providing direction and feedback, and ensuring adequate staffing coverage.
