Job summary

Department for Transport in Birmingham is seeking a Head of Strategy, Performance and Improvement. You will lead the Digital Performance and Capability team, shaping strategic plans, performance frameworks and governance to drive the department’s objectives.

Reporting to senior stakeholders, you will manage resources, budgets and transformation initiatives, including a new Target Operating Model, and work across the DfT Group to deliver improvements and robust performance insights.

Qualifications

• Leadership and management experience at senior level.
• Experience implementing performance management frameworks.
• Budget control and contract oversight experience.
• Experience leading transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resources (finance, contracts, people) and capabilities with governance to enable the directorate and digital function to work effectively.
• Set strategy aligned with Modern Digital Government Blueprint, create business plans and monitor delivery, manage risks and interventions.
• Lead transformation and implement a new Target Operating Model with HR, unions and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with DfT Group to develop strategies, plans and conduct reviews across the digital function.
