Head of Delivery – Environment

Brighton - Southern Water Framework

Due to the restructure of the Southern business, an opportunity has arisen in Brighton for a Head of Delivery (HOD) to lead Operations within the Southern Frameworks.

Role Overview:

The HOD will be accountable for the successful delivery of a large programme of work as part of our Framework Agreement with Southern Water. You will lead a team delivering large, technically challenging engineering projects involving Civil Engineering and MEICA works.

The Head of Delivery will promote a culture of collaboration among Clients, Designers, Framework Delivery Partners, and Supply Chain to deliver innovative, effective, and efficient projects that meet time, cost, and quality objectives. Opportunities with clients will be cultivated to expand offerings and develop long-term sustainable relationships in the region.

Ideally, the candidate should be an experienced leader with key responsibilities, seeking clear career progression and part of our succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote high standards of HS&E at all times.
• Support and guide the pre-construction team in bid pricing and risk management.
• Develop delivery strategies and resource plans, including succession planning.
• Build relationships with supply chain and clients to support delivery.
• Lead and support teams to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
• Manage client relationships and stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Oversee financial performance, cost reduction, and innovation in delivery.
• Ensure compliance with commercial contract conditions, especially NEC4.
• Manage people, roles, responsibilities, and team development.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Effective staff development and employee relations.
• Programme and project management experience.
• Strategic planning and change management skills.
• Strong HS&E performance record.
• Experience across full project lifecycle, especially in engineering construction.
• Commercial awareness, including contract management and negotiation skills.
• Degree qualification preferred but not essential.
• Knowledge of Water/Wastewater Treatment sectors is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and IT skills.
