The Solutions Development professional acts in a business consultancy capacity with extensive knowledge of supply chain and freight forwarding, passionate about industry advancement via technology and digitization. The successful candidate will develop, position, and demonstrate product-specific solutions during sales and consultative cycles, supporting commercial and account management teams to deliver compelling value propositions to prospective and existing customers.

Purpose

This role involves working closely with account and business development managers to identify, qualify, and pitch compelling value propositions to new and existing customers. For existing clients, Metro focuses on developing strategic partnerships through joint value creation initiatives.

The Supply Chain Development Manager creates customized and innovative solutions to optimize supply chain performance and costs, enabling clients to achieve operational cost reduction, administrative workload reduction, inventory reduction, revenue improvement, and enhanced service and quality by leveraging Metro’s products, services, and technology.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Build partnership engagement with assigned customers through joint strategy development and workshops to understand their ambitions and needs, and develop tailored value propositions.
  • Proactively qualify opportunities with Commercial and Key Account teams, supporting go/no-go decisions.
  • Manage projects from qualification to value proposition delivery, including proposal discussions with customers in a consultative manner.
  • Create Metro’s value proposition, managing virtual, cross-functional teams across disciplines.
  • Engage relevant Metro stakeholders for solution proposals, coordinate sign-offs, and discuss value propositions with customers.
  • Support ongoing customer engagement and support to Metro stakeholders until final decision.
  • Organize and facilitate internal and customer workshops to understand strategy, business models, and supply chain challenges.
  • Build and position value propositions with business cases, considering trade-offs, risks, and strategic alignment.
  • Transition solutions projects to the implementation team.
  • Establish mechanisms to measure and manage client value.
  • Coach Commercial and Key Account colleagues towards a more consultative approach.
  • Continuously develop supply chain tools and methodologies.
  • Formalize innovation through case studies and references.
  • Participate in RFx processes requiring strategic solutions input.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills

  • 5-10 years of experience in strategic supply chain management, transformation, and delivery projects.
  • Operational knowledge from Freight Forwarder, Logistics Service Provider, Manufacturing, or Consulting backgrounds.
  • Supply Chain Management expertise.
  • Business acumen and basic financial understanding.
  • Process mapping and re-engineering skills (Six Sigma, SCOR, or similar preferred).
  • Ability to analyze data, derive insights, identify value levers, and quantify customer value.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Management systems and digital technologies.
  • Understanding of local and international markets.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory).

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering (preferred but not mandatory).
