Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Head of Computing in Taunton, Somerset to provide strategic leadership for the Computing department. You will oversee curriculum planning, staff development, assessment processes and the effective use of technology to deliver a high-quality learning experience across key stages.

The role requires strong subject knowledge in Computer Science and digital technologies, with a focus on promoting computational thinking, coding and inclusive teaching practices.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Computer Science or IT in a secondary school setting.
• Experience leading curriculum development or managing a subject area (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of Computer Science, programming and digital technologies.
• Ability to motivate, support and develop staff and students.
• Strong understanding of assessment, data analysis and curriculum planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development and delivery of the Computing curriculum across all key stages.
• Ensure the curriculum reflects current developments in Computer Science and digital technology.
• Develop and review schemes of work, lesson resources and assessment frameworks.
• Monitor curriculum effectiveness and implement improvements as required.
• Promote computational thinking, coding and digital problem-solving skills.
