The Head of Commercial Finance and FP&A is a senior role responsible for driving the financial strategy of the organization with a focus on commercial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis. The individual will lead the FP&A and commercial finance team, collaborating with cross-functional departments to align financial strategies with organizational goals and leading the centralisation of data and management information (MI) to enhance business-wide decision-making.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

APPROACH

  • Develop close and trusted working relationships with the Board, department Directors and Heads and provide support for decision making
  • Develop a strong understanding of all departments to be able to support cross functional projects
  • Understand key drivers for the various divisions

DELIVERY

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:Working alongside sales team develop and implement commercial finance strategies, including pricing, rebates, market analysis, and performance monitoring, to maximize profitability and align with market demands and competitor activity.
  • Rebates and Promotions:Own the design, implementation, and financial oversight of rebate programs and promotional campaigns, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and profitability goals
  • Performance Analysis:Conduct in-depth financial and operational analysis, including variance analysis, sales/margin analysis, and KPI development, to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Pricing Strategy:Oversee the development and execution of pricing models to optimize profitability while maintaining market competitiveness
  • Divisional P&L management:Provide actionable financial insights to divisional leaders and senior management.
  • Financial Planning and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and long-term financial planning to support strategic objectives
  • Business Partnering:Collaborate with sales, product development, supply chain, marketing, operations, and other departments to provide financial insights, evaluate business opportunities, and support strategic initiatives
  • Data Centralization:Lead initiatives to centralize financial and operational data across the business, ensuring a single source of truth for accurate and consistent reporting and decision-making.
  • Management Information (MI):Oversee the development and implementation of robust MI systems and dashboards to provide actionable insights.
  • Reporting:Overall responsibility for reporting to Japanese shareholders and UK Directors – including preparation of Board Reports and Directors Meetings
  • Projects:Support the FD in strategic growth of the business including potential M&A and subsequent integration.
  • Process Improvement:Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting, with a focus on integrating centralized data platforms and MI tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Establish, maintain and promote a positive working relationship with Directors and staff at all levels.
