Job summary

IPS, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks a Head of Civil and Structural in Birmingham, UK, to lead facility design services supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing and operations. The role focuses on master planning, design governance, and regulatory compliance across diverse projects.

The candidate will oversee scope development, budgeting, staffing, and construction documentation, with strong AutoCAD and Revit skills. Interviews may be in person or virtual, video required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Architecture, RIBA certified and registration preferred.
• Significant previous experience and proven success as a Project Architect.
• Extensive architectural design experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech and/or laboratory industries for domestic and international projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD & Revit; drawing experience preferred; use Revit to produce design docs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and take ownership of Master Planning.
• Define design philosophies and facility design parameters.
• Assess project requirements, break project into tasks, and determine scope, budget, and staffing.
• Write scope of work for architectural design based on preliminary review and client meetings.
• Participate in proposal presentations and present design information to project teams.
