Job summary

Harris Academy Falconwood is seeking an experienced Head of Business Studies to lead the subject area, drive standards and support school-wide improvement. You will hold QTS and have proven GCSE teaching success, with a track record of managing change and raising attainment.

The role requires strategic planning, staff development and effective deployment of resources while maintaining safeguarding commitments and contributing to the academy's ethos.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, ideally with management training.
• Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level.
• Have experience of initiation and effective management of change.
• Show evidence of raising achievement and value added for groups.
• Have knowledge of current curriculum developments and their implications.
• Show good understanding of how children learn and raise standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Business Studies department.
• Raise standards of student attainment and monitor progress.
• Ensure a broad, balanced, relevant curriculum aligned with academy aims.
• Teach relevant Business Studies across age and ability ranges.
• Facilitate a learning experience to enable individual potential.
• Manage staff, resources and the department budget.
