Job summary

Harris Academy Falconwood is seeking a qualified, experienced Head of Business Studies to lead the department, drive curriculum development and raise attainment. You will teach GCSE Business Studies, manage staff and resources, and contribute to the academy’s holistic student development and safeguarding priorities.

The role requires QTS (or equivalent), a relevant degree, and a track record of improving student outcomes within a supportive school culture.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training.
• Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level.
• Have experience of initiation and effective management of change.
• Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups.
• Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications.
• Have good understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Business Studies department.
• Raise standards of attainment and monitor student progress.
• Deliver a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the department.
• Teach Business Studies across the age and ability range.
• Effectively manage and deploy staff, financial and physical resources within the department.
• Support personal and academic growth of students and contribute to safeguarding.
