Head of Biology – Permanent – Secondary School – Westminster – September 2025 Start

An ambitious and high-achieving secondary school in Westminster is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Biology to lead the Biology team within its thriving Science department. This is a permanent, full-time position starting in September 2025, and comes with a TLR2c for leadership responsibility.

The Role

As Head of Biology, you will take the lead on curriculum planning, assessment, and progress tracking in Biology across Key Stages 3–5. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of teaching and learning within the subject, supporting and developing a dedicated team of staff.

This role is ideal for a passionate Biology teacher looking to advance their career within a collaborative and academically focused department.

Candidate Requirements
  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong academic background in Biology
  • Experience teaching Biology to KS5 and general Science at lower key stages
  • Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into a subject leadership role
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and ability to raise attainment
  • Organised, proactive, and committed to fostering a love of science
  • Contribute positively to department development and wider school life
