Job description

Make the extraordinary, everlasting - with us.

At EC, we craft extraordinary experiences that leave a lasting impression - not just for our clients, but for our people too. We blend the big ideas of a creative agency with the meticulous execution of a production company, bringing bold, imaginative events to life.

We’re collaborative, down‑to‑earth, and serious about delivering quality - all while finding time for lightness and fun. If you’re someone who’s curious, adaptable and excited to do meaningful work with a team that’s got your back, we’d love to hear from you.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Head of Audio to join our team. Reporting into our Technical Director, you’ll lead the strategic and technical development of our audio discipline across EC.

As EC’s audio authority, you’ll oversee live audio system design, deployment and operation across a wide range of projects - from early planning and client conversations through to on‑site execution. You’ll play a key role in elevating our audio offering, driving innovation, improving standards and helping the team grow in confidence and capability.

This is a senior, visible role for someone who can combine deep technical expertise with confident stakeholder management, calm leadership and a genuine passion for developing others. You’ll help set standards, shape best practice, support complex delivery and build capability across the wider technical team through mentoring and cross‑training. You’ll also be called on for EC’s biggest, most complex and highest‑profile projects, bringing senior technical leadership where the scale, risk, visibility or stakeholder complexity requires a true discipline expert.

You’ll Thrive Here If You…
  • Have extensive, demonstrable experience in live event audio system design, deployment and operation
  • Have a strong working knowledge of live event planning, technical delivery and on‑site execution.
  • Are articulate, confident and able to build trust with clients, venues, suppliers and internal teams
  • Can lead multiple priorities calmly, making sound technical decisions under pressure
  • Have a strong network within the audio and live events industry
  • Stay close to product innovation, manufacturer developments and emerging audio trends
  • Enjoy mentoring, coaching and helping junior team members develop
  • Care deeply about safe, well‑planned and high‑quality technical delivery
  • Have proven experience supporting large‑scale, complex and high‑profile live events where technical leadership, planning detail and stakeholder confidence are critical
Technical expertise we’d love to see:
  • Advanced live audio system design and optimisation knowledge
  • Strong Vectorworks knowledge, ideally including Braceworks
  • Confident use of ArrayCalc and NoizeCalc
  • Advanced knowledge of Shure Wireless Workbench
  • Excellent knowledge of Yamaha sound desks
  • Dante certification and excellent networking knowledge
  • Strong practical understanding of RF planning, wireless systems and audio infrastructure

You don’t have to tick every box — we care just as much about curiosity, adaptability and a growth mindset as we do experience on paper.

What You’ll Be Doing
Technical Leadership
  • Act as EC’s subject matter expert for audio across projects, pitches and technical planning
  • Provide clear technical briefings and direction to project teams, technicians and freelance crew on major projects
  • Review and guide audio system designs, specifications, equipment lists and technical approaches
  • Set clear audio standards, preferred workflows and best‑practice guidance for the team
  • Provide senior technical escalation and calm problem‑solving support on complex projects
  • Lead or support the technical approach on major, complex projects, helping teams make clear decisions when delivery involves multiple crews, suppliers, venues, systems or moving parts
Project Planning & Delivery Support
  • Work with Production, Technical, Operations and Warehouse teams to support smooth project flow
  • Support quoting, planning, specification and resourcing for audio‑heavy projects
  • Provide technical oversight on major project budgets, ensuring technical ambitions are aligned with commercial objectives
  • Attend site visits and client or venue meetings where senior audio expertise is required
  • Represent the technical discipline in project planning meetings and act as a senior stakeholder throughout project delivery
  • Support on‑site delivery for key projects, ensuring quality, consistency and client confidence

  • Create learning opportunities that support cross‑training across technical disciplines
  • Identify skills gaps and work with the People Team and Production leadership on development plans

  • Share knowledge generously and help build confidence across the wider team

  • Shape EC’s audio technology roadmap, including equipment purchasing and deployment choices
  • Evaluate new products, manufacturers and workflows to keep EC at the forefront of live audio
  • Improve internal processes, planning tools and technical documentation for audio delivery
  • Champion continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, sustainability and technical creativity
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Ensure audio designs and delivery plans align with H&S expectations, RAMS and safe working practices
  • Identify technical risks early and support proactive contingency planning
  • Promote responsible working practices on site, in preparation and during delivery
Representing EC
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, freelancers and industry partners
