Job description

Audio Technical Specialist – Live Events

We’re working with a leading global live events and AV production business to recruit an experienced Audio Technical Specialist to join their technical team.

This is a hands-on, project-focused role for an audio specialist with strong experience delivering technically complex corporate and live events. You’ll be involved from the initial planning and system design stages through to onsite delivery, taking ownership of audio systems and leading technical teams to ensure events are executed to the highest standard.

The Role

As Audio Technical Specialist, you’ll work closely with Project Managers and wider technical teams to design, plan and deliver audio solutions across a variety of live events.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and planning audio systems for small to large-scale live and corporate events
  • Working with Project Managers to determine equipment requirements and appropriate technical solutions
  • Designing and deploying PA systems, including line array and distributed point-source systems
  • Using simulation software such as D&B ArrayCalc to design and optimise PA systems
  • Contributing to technical drawings using Vectorworks
  • Producing and communicating technical documentation including patch sheets, flow diagrams and equipment lists
  • Operating Yamaha, DiGiCo and Allen & Heath mixing consoles on large-scale events
  • Building and tuning systems from manufacturers including D&B, L-Acoustics and Martin Audio
  • Coordinating and deploying Shure and Sennheiser RF microphone and IEM systems
  • Programming and integrating wired and wireless comms systems including GreenGo, Clear-Com and RTS
  • Troubleshooting technical issues quickly and effectively during live delivery
  • Supervising and directing technicians onsite, from setup through to event operation and breakdown
  • Liaising with freelancers, suppliers and internal resources to ensure projects are properly crewed and equipped
  • Supporting the preparation, transportation, storage and maintenance of technical equipment
  • Mentoring and developing other technical team members
About You

You’ll be an experienced live events audio professional who is equally comfortable with technical planning and hands-on onsite delivery.

You’ll ideally have:

  • 5+ years’ experience working within professional live events audio
  • Strong experience delivering large-scale corporate events
  • Advanced knowledge of Yamaha, DiGiCo and Allen & Heath consoles
  • Strong PA system design, deployment and tuning experience
  • Experience with D&B, L-Acoustics and/or Martin Audio systems
  • Good knowledge of RF microphone and IEM systems
  • Experience programming and integrating professional comms systems
  • Working knowledge of Vectorworks and audio simulation/design software
  • The ability to produce clear technical documentation and system plans
  • Experience leading or supervising technical teams onsite
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • A calm, solutions-focused approach when working in live event environments
What’s on Offer

You’ll be joining an established international business with access to state-of-the‑art technology and a clearly defined career path, alongside opportunities to develop within a global organisation.

Benefits include private healthcare after 12 months, enhanced family leave, company sick pay, employee assistance support, recognition and referral schemes, volunteering opportunities and a long‑service programme.

If you’re an experienced audio specialist looking to take greater ownership of technically ambitious live events while remaining hands‑on with delivery, we’d love to hear from you.
