Job summary

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is seeking a visionary and hands-on Head of Performance to lead its performance practice globally. You will pioneer an AI-first performance capability, shifting from retrospective evaluations to continuous, insight-driven enablement embedded in daily work.

Reporting to Performance and Reward, you will set the strategic vision for integrating generative AI across the performance lifecycle, ensure governance and fairness, and lead a team across London and Manchester.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of performance management in a global organisation.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI/LLM in HR/talent processes.
• Ability to translate a bold vision into measurable roadmaps and operational change.
• Experience leading multi-office teams across locations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with senior stakeholders and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the firm’s multi-year performance strategy and roadmap.
• Drive an AI-first approach across the performance cycle with enterprise tools and playbooks.
• Ensure fair, transparent links between performance outcomes and rewards, promotions, and development.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team across London and Manchester; foster experimentation and learning.
• Establish robust governance, data privacy, and fairness standards for AI in performance.
• Own performance technology, partner with HRIS/IT for ongoing system evolution and analytics.
• Engage senior leaders to drive organization-wide adoption of new performance habits.
