Job summary

Heysham Port Ltd is seeking a Head of Accounts Payable to lead and optimise the AP function across Peel Ports Group. You will oversee supplier invoices, payments and reconciliations, while guiding the team and driving governance and continuous improvement.

The role requires senior AP leadership experience, strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay controls, and the ability to implement automation and new technologies to enhance efficiency and service.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) desired, significant AP/ Finance Operations experience considered.
• Proven experience leading an Accounts Payable function.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end Procure-to-Pay processes and controls.
• Experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
• Track record of delivering operational efficiencies and working capital benefits.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing across functions.
• Excellent communication and change management capabilities.
• Understanding of governance, compliance and risk in finance ops.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of efficient, well-controlled AP service across Peel Ports Group.
• Provide leadership to the AP team and foster development, collaboration and performance.
• Oversee supplier invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, master data and query resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation and new technologies.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Treasury and operations to optimise Procure-to-Pay.
