Job summary

Foxhills Collection in Ottershaw, United Kingdom, is seeking a seasoned Head Gardener to lead our gardening team and oversee grounds management. The role focuses on delivering outstanding landscape care and ensuring our grounds reflect the property’s luxurious standard.

You will plan seasonal lawn care, supervise staff, manage budgets, and collaborate with departments to ensure the highest possible standards of presentation for guests and visitors.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum RHS Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture.
• Experience in supervisory role and managing large-scale gardening projects.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• In-depth knowledge of plants, shrubs and trees.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage gardening team in the maintenance and enhancement of the grounds.
• Implement seasonal lawn care plans.
• Perform monthly woodland checks and any reactive works needed.
• Develop and implement garden design plans, ensuring aesthetically pleasing, sustainable outcomes reflective of the property's vision.
• Monitor plant health and implement pest and disease control measures as needed.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of gardening equipment, ensuring safe use.
• Manage gardening budget, including purchasing plants, tools, and supplies within budget.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet guest and visitor needs.
• Liaise with other departments to minimize disruption to members.
• Take a proactive approach whilst reacting to department and member needs.

Foxhills Collection is seeking a skilled and motivated Head Gardener to lead our gardening team and oversee the management of our picturesque grounds.,

• Lead and manage the gardening team in the maintenance and enhancement of the grounds, including planting, pruning, weeding, and watering
• Implementing seasonal lawn care plans
• Perform monthly woodland checks and any reactive works needed
• Develop and implement garden design plans, ensuring that they are aesthetically pleasing, sustainable, and reflective of the property's overall vision
• Monitor plant health and implement pest and disease control measures as needed
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of gardening equipment, ensuring that it is properly maintained and used safely
• Manage the gardening budget, including purchasing plants, tools, and supplies, and ensuring that expenses are kept within budgetary constraints
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that the grounds are maintained to the highest standards and meet the needs of guests and visitors
• Liaise with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to members
• Take a proactive approach whilst reacting to department and member needs
• Ensure all health and safety requirements for the department are met
  Minimum RHS level two in Amenity Horticulture
• Previous experience in a supervisory position and/or extensive experience in gardening or horticulture, with a proven track record of success in managing large-scale gardening projects
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
• In-depth knowledge of plants, shrubs, and trees, and their care and maintenance requirements
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Flexibility to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in horticulture or landscaping preferred
