Job summary

Ad Warrior Ltd in Doncaster is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our busy hotel and events kitchen. You will manage daily operations, drive quality across all food services, and mentor a talented kitchen team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

You will work closely with the Executive Head Chef, oversee menus, cost control, HACCP compliance, and ensure high standards across restaurant, weddings, conferences and banqueting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a kitchen in a busy hotel, wedding venue or banqueting operation.
• Strong leadership with ability to develop a kitchen team.
• Commercial awareness including food costs, GP margins and labour control.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, allergens and kitchen compliance.
• Organised and able to perform under pressure.

Responsibilities

Head Chef

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

Vacancy Type : Permanent, Full Time (48 hours per week)

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and hands‑on Head Chef to join our busy hotel and events venue.

With a mix of hotel dining, weddings, conferences, private functions and large-scale banqueting, this is an exciting opportunity for a strong kitchen leader who thrives in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Working closely with our Executive Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen, leading the team, maintaining high food standards and ensuring smooth service across all food operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of a busy hotel kitchen, working alongside the Executive Head Chef.
• Lead, motivate, train and develop the kitchen team, maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism.
• Oversee food preparation and service for restaurant dining, weddings, conferences, private functions and large-scale banqueting.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control across all services.
• Plan and manage kitchen rotas, staffing levels and labour costs in line with business demands.
• Take responsibility for stock control, ordering, stock rotation and minimising food waste.
• Work closely with the Executive Head Chef to manage food costs, gross profit margins and overall kitchen profitability.
• Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, HACCP, allergen management and health and safety regulations.
• Work closely with the Food & Beverage and Events teams to ensure weddings and functions are delivered smoothly and to a high standard.
• Support menu development, seasonal promotions and improvements to the overall food offering.
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to progress.
• Experience within a busy hotel, wedding venue or high-volume banqueting operation is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a kitchen team.
• Confident managing multiple food operations, including restaurant service and large functions.
• Good commercial awareness, including food costs, GP margins, stock management and labour control.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, allergens and kitchen compliance.
• Organised, reliable and able to remain calm under pressure.
• A hands‑on approach with a willingness to support the team wherever needed.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy event periods.
