Job summary

Whitehall Garden Centre Ltd is seeking an experienced Head Chef for the Herb Garden restaurant. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and lead a professional team while ensuring high standards of food, service, hygiene and kitchen operations.

Working pattern includes 4 days during the week with alternate weekends and straight shifts with no evening work, offering a strong work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Herb Garden kitchen
• Lead, manage and motivate a professional kitchen team
• Ensure the team delivers consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
• Plan and organise kitchen rotas, staffing and daily operations effectively
• Support recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of kitchen team members
• Lead by example, creating a positive, professional and supportive kitchen environment
• Demonstrate excellent people management and kitchen management skills
• Be creative and passionate about food, bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to the kitchen
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked and presented to the highest possible standards
• Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety at all times
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and food preparation regulations
• Manage stock levels, ordering and kitchen wastage effectively
• Work closely with the wider management team to ensure the Herb Garden continues to deliver an excellent customer experience

The Role:
