Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Head Chef to lead a kitchen and front-of-house team within our care-home settings. You will design nutritious, flavoursome menus, supervise staff, and ensure high standards of food quality and service.

You will use fresh seasonal produce, manage budgets, and maintain strict food safety standards (HACCP/COSHH). We offer Chef Academy training and development opportunities to grow your skills.

Qualifications

• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
• Experience leading, motivating and inspiring a team.
• Experience with fresh seasonal food and understanding nutrition.
• Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment within homes.
• Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising, nutritious menus.
• Experience with front of house teams to maintain high standards.
• Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH.
• Knowledge of IDDSI modified diets and training available.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire a team; develop and upskill as needed.
• Develop menus tailored to residents to deliver person-centred hospitality.
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality dishes.
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch.
• Assist front of house with dining area setup.
• Manage budgets, audits and stock control.
• Create a warm, efficient and fun kitchen/restaurant environment.
• Oversee recruitment and retention; monitor kitchen performance.
