Barchester Healthcare in Mansfield is seeking a Head Chef to drive hotel/restaurant standards within the care home kitchen. You will have autonomy to create nutritious, flavourful menus and to lead and develop the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

We offer opportunities through our Chef Academy and ongoing professional development, with 4/5 days across 4/5 weeks and alternate weekends to support work-life balance. The role focuses on high-quality dining for residents.

Qualifications

• Personable and warm approach with wellbeing of residents
• Experience leading a team
• Experience with fresh seasonal food and nutrition understanding
• Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment in homes
• Confidence engaging with residents for appetising, nutritious menus
• Experience working with a front of house team to maintain high standards
• Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH
• Knowledge of IDDSI framework; training available if new to care

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire a team, develop and upskill where required
• Menu development tailored to residents to deliver person-centred hospitality
• Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality dishes cooked to high standards
• Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch
• Assist front of house with dining area setup
• Work within budget, perform audits and stock control
• Create a warm, efficient and fun environment
• Ongoing recruitment and retention
• Manage performance of kitchen and front of house teams
