Job summary

Leisure People seeks an experienced head chef stepping up from sous or head chef to run a busy hotel kitchen in Worksop. You will lead a small team to deliver breakfasts and evening meals, develop menus using local produce, and ensure allergen controls, hygiene, and safety compliance throughout the kitchen.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced head chef or sous chef looking to step up into first head chef position working for a well-established and popular 50 bed hotel in Worksop, the hotel has high room occupancy and an excellent local reputation. All the meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen , there is a focus on gastro pub-style dishes made using locally sourced ingredients. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining exceptional food standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, managing stock and labour costs, and creating a positive, high-performing kitchen culture. The hotel is not part of a group or chain so the head chef will need the experience and expertise to run the venue with autonomy and in partnership with the Hotel GM.

You will be serving up to 50 breakfasts and evening meals, offer a popular afternoon tea package with the ability to host 60 guests for a sit-down meal or 100 for a buffet for a range of conferences, wedding celebrations, parties and wakes throughout the year.

As head chef you will be hands on in the kitchen and will be leading a team of 2 breakfast chefs, 1 trainee chef and 3 KPs and will be given the opportunity to create new menus and dishes. You will be responsible for monitoring allergen procedures and food labelling, ensure full compliance with food hygiene and health and safety legislation, ordering stock, meeting GPs, rota management and team training.

Like most hotels the busiest days are Monday through to Thursday with corporate guests with Saturday often having full occupancy with local events, weddings and functions. As Kitchen manager you will be responsible for your rota, working 5 days out of 7 and be expected to cover different shifts during the week and to work some weekends.

In addition to a basic salary of £38k, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, there is free parking on site, free meals on duty, discounts within the group and potential support with accommodation for up to 4 weeks.
