Job summary

Avon Search is seeking an experienced Head Chef for a care home in Cardiff. The role focuses on managing the kitchen, delivering nutritious meals, and maintaining high standards while offering a 4-day working pattern.

This position provides a good work-life balance with 40 hours per week, 7:00am to 5:00pm, and no evening or split shifts. Salary is £34,644 per annum, with opportunities for ongoing training and development.

The home provides Nursing, Nursing Dementia, Enablement and Residential Care and Support for 54 residents and is committed to delivering a high standard of care in a warm and welcoming environment.

The Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and for ensuring residents receive fresh, nutritious and appetising meals every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing delicious, high-quality home-cooked food
• Ensuring fresh and nutritious meals are served consistently
• Maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and presentation
• Creating varied menus to meet residents’ individual dietary requirements and preferences
• Leading and managing the kitchen team effectively
• Managing the kitchen efficiently while maintaining high standards
• Building strong relationships with residents, colleagues and the wider care team
• Ensuring food hygiene and Health & Safety standards are maintained
