Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Chemist for our Wednesbury hazardous waste facility to oversee receipt, storage, processing and disposal of hazardous waste in strict regulatory alignment. You will coordinate operations, support cost control, and drive efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities include advising on treatment options, preparing quotations, and maintaining stock records while ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chemist in a hazardous waste management or chemical/manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of chemical process safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritise daily operations for safe, efficient, compliant performance.
• Lead by example to strengthen health, safety, and environmental culture.
• Ensure secure waste management from entry to disposal, minimising cost and meeting requirements.
• Maintain compliance to regulatory standards while driving cost control and efficiency.
• Analyse samples, advise on treatment options, and provide customer quotations.
• Manage stock and inventory of waste and consumables within budgeted costs.
• Uphold high housekeeping standards and enforce policies and procedures.
• Work with Transport to manage inputs/outputs, ensuring compliance and SLA fulfilment.
