Avara Foods in the Ower site near Southampton is seeking an Assistant Hatchery Manager to support the Hatchery Manager in day-to-day operations, drive performance and maintain welfare, biosecurity, safety and quality. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for developing the team and delivering targets, with a 40-hour week, 5 days out of 6, and an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Competenze

• Experience in Hatchery, Production or FMCG.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and engagement skills.
• Excellent communication across levels.

Mansioni

• Support the Hatchery Manager with day-to-day operation of the hatchery.
• Lead, mentor, coach and develop colleagues to build capability and engagement across the team.
• Help deliver operational targets while maintaining high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, health & safety and quality.
• Ensure hygiene, cleaning and planned maintenance schedules are effectively managed and completed.
• Support daily production planning, staffing and resource requirements.
• Monitor performance and support continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, standards and ways of working.
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership and operational support when required.
• Support investigations and corrective actions where standards or performance fall below expectations.
• Deputies for the Hatchery Manager during periods of absence or leave, taking responsibility for the effective operation of the site.
