Avara Foods in the Ower site near Southampton is seeking an Assistant Hatchery Manager to support the Hatchery Manager in day-to-day operations, drive performance and maintain welfare, biosecurity, safety and quality. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for developing the team and delivering targets, with a 40-hour week, 5 days out of 6, and an emphasis on continuous improvement.

About the Role:

Location: Ower, Hampshire (near Southampton)

The Role

As an Assistant Hatchery Manager, you will play a key rolein supporting the Hatchery Manager with the safe and effective day-to-dayrunning of the site. You will help drive operational performance, maintain highstandards of animal welfare, biosecurity, hygiene, safety and quality, andsupport the development of an engaged, motivated and high-performing team.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining operationalresponsibility with colleague development and continuous improvement.

Hours of work: 40 hours

5 days out of 6, Monday to Saturday. The rota will be agreed with the Hatch Manager, with every other Saturday worked and a Thursday off in return. Shifts generally start at 3pm.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience in Hatchery, Production or FMCG role.
• A proven leader with ability to mentor, motivate, and engage the team
• Excellent communication skills across all levels
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  

Desirable:

• Knowledge of avian incubation and embryology
• Engineering background
