Job summary

Forestry England in the South England Forest District is seeking a Harvesting Works Supervisor. You will support the Harvesting Forester (Standing Sales) and District Forester (Harvesting), preparing standing sales parcels and delivering frontline supervision of Tariffing operations, coordinating with Beat Foresters, Civil Engineering, and archaeology surveyors.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Harvesting Forester (Standing Sales) and District Forester (Harvesting) through timely preparation of standing sales parcels for national and local events
• Support in leading and managing staff and contractors to prepare sales in line with silvicultural prescriptions
• Supervise contractors with site visits to ensure delivery within timescales
• Record and file site visits reports in Sharepoint Contract folders
• Ensure conservation areas and archaeological features are identified during the marking process
• Support setting and maintaining Health and Safety standards
• Assist in contract management of harvesting sites and tree safety programmes
• Be prepared to join the South England Forest District Duty Officer roster, providing 24 hr cover roughly four times per year
