Job summary

Hunt Forest Group is seeking a proactive Service Technician for our Harvest department in Wiltshire. You will diagnose and repair a range of agricultural equipment, primarily John Deere, while maintaining accurate repair records and assisting with quotes.

The role requires a full UK driving license, a land-based engineering qualification, and a readiness to work overtime during harvest season. We offer a company vehicle, fuel card, and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Diagnose and repair agricultural/turf machinery including John Deere equipment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge.
• Able to explain mechanical problems clearly to customers.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair agricultural machinery mainly John Deere in the Harvest department.
• Provide accurate quotes for repairs.
• Complete paperwork for work assignments.
• Perform field diagnostics and repairs when required.
• Pre-delivery setup on equipment.
• Maintain clean workspace and assist workshop organisation.
• Attend service training for skill development.
• Follow safety rules during tasks.
• Take on additional duties as needed.

Job description

Salary: up to £41,600 DOE (potential earnings of up to £50,000+ to include overtime)

Location: Tilshead (Wiltshire)

Job type: Full time/permanent

Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday (40 hours per week) - Saturday working on a rota basis and weekend work required throughout the Harvest season (Saturday and Sunday) paid at overtime rate

You enjoy a variety of work and are confident when it comes to diagnosing and repairing many types of agricultural machinery including i ncluding Forage Harvesters, Combines, Balers, Mower Conditioners and Tedders. Working efficiently and accurately, you consistently provide the highest level of support to our customers. You thrive off a ch allenge and always enjoy learning new skills and furthering your knowledge.

About the role:

• Service and repair agricultural/turf machinery from multiple manufacturers though mainly John Deere.
• Diagnose and provide accurate information to enable machinery repair quotes to be created.
• Complete all required paperwork for work assignments.
• Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field when required.
• Perform pre-delivery setup on new or used equipment.
• Maintain a clean work station and assist with overall workshop organisation and correct use of tools and vehicles.
• Participate in Service Training Certification programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
• Participates in Service Training Certification programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
• Performs any other tasks when required.
• A high level of mechanical competence within an engineering field
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems to enable the repair of agricultural equipment.
• Experience of maintaining and repairing equipment
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently from own initiative.
• Good timekeeping
• Communication - ability to explain mechanical problems in simple terms.
• Own tools
• Computer literate - ability to look up information and type up service work or seek manufacturer support. Training to use our systems will be provided but with an expectation that you are proficient with similar dealer or manufacturer systems.
• Familiarity with John Deere or competitive products. Alternatively experience within the commercial, automotive or construction machinery sectors.
• Full UK Driving license
