Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join their Colchester area team. You will design high-performance electronic hardware from concept to production, taking ownership of projects in a collaborative, engineering-led environment.

The role covers analogue and digital design, Altium-based PCB layouts, and rigorous testing with lab equipment. It offers a competitive £45k-£55k salary, 25 days holiday, life assurance, and clear progression toward Senior Engineer.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in hardware design and development.
• Strong analogue and digital circuit design knowledge, including power supplies and signal integrity.
• Schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout experience.
• Hands-on experience with lab test equipment.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define product specifications in collaboration with Product Management.
• Lead the design and development of analogue and digital electronics hardware.
• Create detailed schematics and multilayer PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
• Perform component selection and analysis to improve performance and reliability.
• Develop and run test plans for prototypes and final products.
• Debug and validate hardware using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and spectrum analysers.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, test, NPI, and manufacturing teams.
• Take ownership of projects from concept through to production.
• Support products throughout their full lifecycle and contribute to design reviews.
