Job summary

Redline Group Ltd in Essex is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead design, development and testing of high‑performance hardware solutions for our product range. You will guide projects from concept to validation and mentor junior engineers.

You will work across hardware, software, mechanical and test domains, delivering robust digital, analogue and RF designs using Altium Designer, with strong focus on high-speed signals, RF, EMI/EMC and power management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience in high-speed signal design, RF, EMI/EMC.
• Strong debugging with lab equipment.
• FPGA (VHDL/Verilog) or microcontroller-based systems, embedded software knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Define product and design specifications with Product Management.
• Lead design and development of digital, analogue, and RF hardware, mentoring juniors.
• Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
• Perform component selection, simulations and analyses for performance.
• Develop and execute test plans for prototypes and final products.
• Conduct debugging and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers.
• Collaborate across hardware, software, mechanical and test teams for integration.

The Senior Hardware Design Engineer, Essex, will lead technical excellence in the field, guiding design and validation practices and mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with senior engineers across hardware, software, mechanical and test domains. You'll draw on deep engineering expertise, production methodologies, and supplier processes to ensure robust, high-performance product development.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product Management to define product and design specifications.
• Lead in the design and development of digital, analogue, and RF hardware products, providing support to junior engineers.
• Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
• Perform component selection, simulation, and analysis to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and execute test plans for prototypes and final products.
• Conduct debugging and validation using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and spectrum analysers.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure efficient hardware/software integration and delivery.

Key Skills
