We are looking for an Electronics/Hardware Engineer to work in the Michelin Connected Fleet hardware development team. The team is responsible for the design, certification and production phases of electronic enclosures as well as peripherals and derivative product lines that include the market leading telematics device: the M400. The M400 delivers accurate vehicle intelligence, it reads metrics like speed, RPM, fuel consumption and odometer straight from the CAN bus. This non-intrusive CAN clip technology collects real-time, accurate data from virtually any vehicle. The latest generation of E- and CE-certified embedded devices, built around a microcontroller and integrating a CatM1/2G cellular modem, a satellite positioning system, multiple wireless interfaces such as Bluetooth, and other business interfaces in one small device.

What would your role look like:

  • Participate in the management of electronic design projects, including.
  • Define and design the hardware and functional architecture of an electronic board.
  • Create prototypes, test and control the different components required.
  • Carry out the necessary certifications according to the region(s) (Europe, North and South America, Australia, South Africa).
  • Define the end of line production bench in collaboration with the manufacturer.
  • Contribute to the improvement of Michelin Connected Fleet solutions, including:
  • Identify, analyse and correct complex problems
  • Contribute to the evolution strategy of the embedded solutions
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement principles and processes
  • Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including:
  • Software development engineers to ensure that electronic choices are in line with project expectations
  • Manage subcontractors for development and deployment
  • Collaborate with the component purchasing manager

To be successful you will likely have:

  • Graduated with an electronics engineering degree or equivalent
  • Professional experience required: minimum 3 - 5 years
  • Knowledge of C/ASM and firmware development best practice would be a real plus
  • Experience in electronic debugging with oscilloscope and logic analyser
  • Knowledge of electronic CAD systems and component technologies (Electronic CAD (Orcad or Altium), CAN, RS232, SPI, I2C, GNSS, LTE, Mixed Analogue/Digital designs, RF layout
  • Good interpersonal skills and technical initiative
  • Ability to work in a team and share electronic expertise
  • Good ability to analyse risks and failure modes such as FMEA
  • Ability to work in an international environment across geographies and languages
