Job summary

Angus Council invites applications for a Harbour Master to oversee operations, maintenance and development at Arbroath Harbour during a period of significant investment. You will lead a small team of Harbour Assistants, manage assets, ensure marine safety and cultivate strong relationships with harbour users.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team.
• Ability to manage budgets and financial documents.
• Strong focus on customer service and service outcomes.
• Experience with digital service delivery and process improvement.
• Knowledge of data protection laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Harbour Master team in line with service aims, goals and objectives.
• Provide direction for the team; engage, motivate and inspire others; support change and model values.
• Lead and manage employees in accordance with council policy including prioritisation and evaluation of work.
• Create an environment for high performance, setting standards and addressing underperformance when needed.
• Account for and monitor expenditure from an allocated budget, including invoices and timesheets.
• Contribute to performance management in line with requirements.
• Establish systems to gather and analyse information to keep work focused on customers.
• Promote continuous improvement, efficiency and innovation to improve service outcomes.
• Support development of efficient work practices and digital service delivery where possible.
• Comply with data protection laws in processing personal data.
