Job summary

Wellburn Care Homes is seeking a Handyperson to support our residents by carrying out general maintenance across the care home and surrounding areas. You should manage your own workload with basic skills in plumbing, joinery and electrical fittings, ensuring safety and high standards.

You will identify maintenance needs, report defects, and perform health and safety checks with training provided. The role requires a full enhanced DBS check and commitment to resident welfare.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or facilities upkeep.
• Ability to perform basic plumbing, joinery and electrical repairs.
• Good attention to detail and safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks to ensure safety and comfort for residents.
• Identify and report defects; undertake health and safety checks (training provided).
• Keep records of maintenance work and report any issues promptly.

About the role

The Handyperson is key to the welfare of our residents at Wellburn Care by ensuring high standards of general maintenance to the care home and surrounding areas. We are looking for a handyperson who are self-motivated and can prioritise their own workload with a good general knowledge of all aspects of maintenance including basic plumbing, joinery, and household electrical fittings.

Our Handyperson will have a keen eye to identify general maintenance work that is required to keep our homes safe and as comfortable as possible for the residents. You will be responsible for all minor repairs within the home as well as reporting defects, undertaking Health and Safety checks (training will be given) and maintaining the appropriate records.

This role is subject to a full enhanced DBS check, in line with Wellburn Care Homes Safeguarding Policy.
