Job description

EQUANS is looking for a Handyman to work at Waterside Plaza in Manchester. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 40 hours per week, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a small team, delivering PPM/reactive tasks and small project works. Weekend work is required, with a rota provided.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform daily maintenance and reactive tasks related to building and fabric assets.
2. Respond promptly to leaks and blockages.
3. Carry out general maintenance such as changing lamps, replacing ceiling tiles, plumbing, and joinery tasks.
4. Complete jobs within SLA/KPI times.
5. Use PDA to update work orders with sufficient details.
6. Conduct daily find-it-fix-it routines, report issues, and ensure follow-up within service level agreements.
7. Undertake statutory and planned maintenance, including emergency lighting and fire alarm testing.
8. Participate in emergency call-outs.
9. Manage sub-contractors, including inductions, RAMS review, and permits.
10. Manage workload efficiently while maintaining high service standards.
11. Complete risk assessments and adhere to Safe Systems of Work.
12. Meet all SHEQ obligations and maintain a tidy work area.
13. Perform minor upgrade and adaptation installation works.
14. Operate access equipment, hand, and power tools safely.
15. Undertake necessary training to develop skills.
16. Communicate effectively with site teams and management.
17. Participate in opening/closing buildings if required.
18. Perform additional duties as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in fabric and plumbing works.
• C&G qualification or equivalent in joinery or plumbing.
• Technical competence in building services.
• Understanding of building systems like boilers, heating, lighting, and water management.
• Good health & safety knowledge.
