Barrie Knitwear in Hawick is seeking a skilled Handsewer to join our Pre-Production team, contributing to the development of new knitwear, handsewing prototypes, and samples before bulk manufacture.

This role rewards attention to detail and pride in craft, with opportunities to influence methods, quality standards, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing process. You will work closely with colleagues to establish early product quality and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Experience in handsewing delicate knitwear materials.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for quality.
• Willingness to learn new skills and improve methods.

Responsibilities

• Handsew garments for show collections and salesroom requirements.
• Handsew prototypes, samples and submissions to required quality and standard.
• Identify and communicate appropriate handsewing and manufacturing methods.
• Recognise potential manufacturing risks and quality or conformance challenges.
• Work with colleagues to develop repeatable methods for bulk manufacture.
• Contribute ideas to support continuous improvement across the manufacturing process.
