Job summary

Knitster LDN in Leyton, East London, is seeking an experienced Handsewer to join our specialist knitwear production team on a temporary, part-time basis. You will hand-sew and finish fully fashioned garments, handling knitted panels with care to maintain quality.

The role emphasizes precision, attention to detail and the ability to work to production deadlines within a small studio environment. Experience with wool or fine natural fibers is desirable.

Qualifications

• Hand-sewing experience in knitwear production
• Experience handling knitted panels during production
• Good understanding of knitted garment construction and finishing
• Able to secure and finish yarn ends neatly
• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Experience with wool, cashmere or fine natural fibres desirable
• Experience in knitwear factory, linking room, sampling studio or finishing department desirable

Responsibilities

• Hand-sew and finish fully fashioned knitted garments during production
• Secure and tidy yarn ends on knitted panels and garments
• Carry out hand-sewn finishing required following knitting and linking
• Handle knitted panels carefully throughout the production process
• Carry out small hand-sewn garment details and finishing as required
• Prepare garments for the next stage of production
• Inspect work and identify issues needing correction
• Check garments for loose ends, missed finishing, damage or other quality issues
• Work closely with the knitting, linking and finishing teams
• Follow production instructions and garment-specific requirements
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workstation
• Work to production deadlines while maintaining a high standard of finish
