Job summary

Probe UK is seeking an experienced Technical Lead Engineer for an office-based role, offering a long-term succession plan. The position involves design, product development, testing and direct customer interaction, with hands-on engineering and leadership responsibilities.

The role includes a clear path to eventually taking over technical leadership. Salary £42,000 - £48,000 depending on experience, 37.5 hours per week, 31 days leave, and a generous pension contribution, all in a central Lincoln

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design experience in manufacturing or product development.
• Excellent SolidWorks skills; able to produce detailed drawings and 3D models.
• Hands-on approach with testing, troubleshooting and supporting products through manufacture.
• Excellent communication to deal directly with customers, production and other departments.
• Ambition to progress beyond design engineering into technical leadership and management.
• Apprentice-trained engineer preferred; degree not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deal directly with customers, understanding their requirements, answering technical queries and developing practical solutions.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
• Work closely with production, providing hands-on engineering support and solving technical issues quickly and effectively.
• Carry out testing, evaluation, fault-finding and product development, giving you plenty of opportunity to get hands-on.
• Take increasing ownership of the company's engineering activities, becoming a key technical decision-maker and future leader.
