Job summary

DCS Recruitment is looking for a hands-on Project Engineer to join a specialist engineering team delivering bespoke subsea systems and instrumentation across Energy, Ocean Science, Defence and Offshore Renewables.

The role covers the full project lifecycle from concept to customer delivery, working with Mechanical, Electronics, Software and Production teams to ensure successful delivery and fault-finding along the way.

Qualifications

• Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electronics, Mechanical, Systems, Communications, Software)
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMM)
• Experience with electronic/mechanical/electromechanical systems
• Understanding of system testing, verification and validation
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio)
• Knowledge of CAD packages (Autodesk, SolidWorks)
• Programming experience with Python and/or C++
• Experience with Jira or similar tools
• Awareness of embedded software development
• Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
• Understanding of mechanical design principles
• Experience in engineering design, product development, systems integration or V&V
• Experience in subsea/ocean/marine/defence/energy environments would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Support development and delivery of bespoke subsea systems and instrumentation
• Assemble and integrate mechanical and electronic components from board level to full systems
• Develop and perform bench, environmental and in-water testing across hardware, firmware and software
• Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMM) to verify performance
• Identify, diagnose and resolve issues at component and system level
• Carry out fault-finding, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Support prototype development, assembly and testing
• Define technical requirements with Project Managers/Systems Engineers
• Produce and maintain drawings, test procedures, manuals and specs
• Coordinate engineering activities across Mechanical, Electronics, Software and Production
• Support customer acceptance testing, system trials and demonstrations
• Provide technical support throughout lifecycle of delivered systems
