Job summary

Sorcer, a London-based company, is seeking a Technical Lead with deep Ruby on Rails experience to own core backend systems and drive automation and integration initiatives. This role is highly hands-on, with weekly production code delivery and strategic input on architecture, tech direction, and delivery across the team.

You will partner with the CTO, CPO, and Senior PM to translate business problems into concrete technical plans, scale the platform, improve observability, and ensure reliability

Qualifications

• Solid track record building and running production backend systems.
• Experience leading complex projects technically while still writing code yourself.
• History of taking systems from design through to full ownership in production.
• Strong Ruby on Rails experience, or an equivalent backend framework.
• Experience with transactional, financial, or high-stakes systems.

Responsibilities

• Ship backend systems that matter: design, build, and run the core services with production-level ownership.
• Look after the codebase: maintain health and plan technical debt responsibly.
• Drive delivery with CTO/Senior PM to translate business priorities into technical plans.
• Own end-to-end data modeling, build, deployment, monitoring, and reliability.
• Guide architecture: balance speed, simplicity, reliability and maintainability.
• Turn manual workflows into automated, platform-wide improvements.
• Provide technical guidance through pairing, design reviews and code reviews.
