Job summary

Hudson Shribman is seeking a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer for a busy manufacturing facility in the South East. You will support both planned preventative and reactive maintenance on large-scale equipment, helping maximise reliability and OEE in a practical production environment.

The role requires hands‑on mechanical maintenance, machining and workshop skills, with welding capability (MIG or ARC) preferred.

Qualifications

• Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent industrial training.
• Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or similar).
• Mechanical maintenance experience within manufacturing or heavy industry essential.
• Basic electrical knowledge beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide first‑line mechanical maintenance and repair support for production machinery.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns.
• Support general site and building maintenance where required.
• Undertake machining work including turning, milling and lathe operations (essential) where needed.
• Assist with continuous improvement and equipment upgrade projects.
• Work collaboratively with production teams to maintain equipment uptime.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Proactively identify reliability improvements and preventative solutions
