Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking a practical and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join an established engineering and manufacturing team. The successful candidate will manufacture, fabricate and assemble components for new and existing machinery, supporting projects from initial design discussions through to final testing and acceptance.

The role involves reading engineering drawings, using workshop machinery (lathes, mills, drills, welding), and ensuring quality, safety and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical assembly/fitting, fabrication, machine building or a similar engineering environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using workshop machinery and hand tools.
• Engineering qualification or apprenticeship preferred.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fitting, fabrication and assembly for machine-building projects.
• Manufacture and modify components for new and existing machinery.
• Use workshop equipment including lathes, mills, drills and welding tools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings for accurate manufacture.
• Support installation, commissioning and testing of new machinery.
• Ensure quality and timely delivery of tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.
